Data attribution and licences

GB Grid Data aggregates published network data from the six GB distribution network operators and the transmission owners. This page records where each dataset comes from, the licence it is published under, and the notices those licences require us to carry.

We do not present the operators' data verbatim. Voltage-level records are clustered into physical sites, records are matched and merged across operators and datasets, generation and demand headroom are calculated, status indicators are derived from that headroom against configurable thresholds, and substation positions are sometimes taken from a different dataset than the one supplying the electrical values. Every figure should be treated as our derived interpretation of the published source, not as an official statement by the operator. Verify directly with the operator before making a connection decision.
